Our Start. Our Principal. Our Values

Start of PCG Services.....

The development of PCG was based in its principal, Margarette Purvis, feeling frustrated by the failures of potential leaders connecting with great companies, foundations and individuals willing to sponsor organic efforts.

Booker T. Washington said to "drop your buckets where you are" but too many local social innovators upon attempting this, hear their buckets hitting very dry rocks. While an American business does not have to learn Swahili to earn a dollar in the US, the average community leader must learn the mores of donors far and wide just to serve a local cause.

It was this kind of thinking that lead Ms. Purvis and several of her most respected colleagues to lend their talents to righting that wrong.

"PCG was built to assist leaders in going beyond dropping their "buckets" to outfitting them with flashlights, drills and any other tool needed to ensure that resources are captured and visions are realized."

Margarette Purvis
, founder and CEO of PCG, the Purvis Consulting Group saw her service career start at the feet of her grandmother, a missionary baptist in Mississippi and her mother, a professional news anchor. Of that time she says, "I often wished I had learned the art of biscuit making, but I'm grateful that I learned the art of service to others."
During her youth, Margarette learned the integrity, creativity and consistency needed to provide grassroots programming, outreach and storytelling skills needed to get support from others.

These lessons were strengthened in experiences ranging from college (Dillard University) to grad school (Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy) and later as a nonprofit executive at several well known nonprofit organizations from New York to DC to Atlanta.

In a span of 17 years Ms. Purvis has worked with young mothers attempting to change their lives and those of their children to individuals struggling with the daily reality of living with HIV and AIDS to faith based leaders attempting to make great impact on limited budgets and lack of grantmaking experience. Each experience resulted in positive additions to Ms. Purvis' career trajectory which included positions ranging from capacity building management for the United Way, starting and effectively managing New York's first employment training and literacy program, INVEST, designed specifically for people living with HIV and AIDS and a vice president position at our nation's largest food bank, Food Bank For New York City, where along with managing a 1300 member charity  network, she developed award winning and (financially sustainable) programs--ATM, Attracting Talent to Missions; Education Institute and Kids Cafe Network.

As the founder and principal of the Purvis Consulting Group, Margarette has assisted celebrities, national charities, government programs, small business owners, professional athletes, private foundations and many more. Contact us today so that we may assist you.
